Elanora Skate Park
We had the pleasure again of organising the public art at Elanora Skate Park. We used the original consultation from the 2009 Stalefish Salad Project including indigenous water designs and a tribute to Shane Cross. Check the awesome artwork by Basics and his french mate Dashe

THE SKILLS BEHIND OPENING DOORS
A few weeks back the Inter Urban Arts peer support mentors put together a stall for the Open Doors project in Burleigh Town Centre. It was all up to them to come up with the ideas and run a stall for the day. As usual they pulled together working though all the tough decisions and time management conflicts that such a project presents a new team. Once everyone arrived at the site there wasn't a hicup. As usual Inter Urban Arts creativity shone through and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. We even won most creative stall.
It is interesting watching the mentors work through all the issues that come with this work, being a Community Cultural Development worker requires a real balance between left brain and right brain thinking. You need to be organised and on point, able to scan a situation and make a quick clear decision, be ready for the unexpected, able to be flexible and change the plan at anytime, be present and intuitive to peoples needs, have a clear, direct and sensitive communication style, keep to a budget (usual tight), be aware of your own strengths and limitations and open to others ideas. And then you have to relax and have a good time. All considered an EXCELLENT job was done by all.
